From Coping to Flourishing
"And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom" Anais Nin
There is inside of all of us a longing to be fully ourselves, to connect genuinely, to grow beyond the circumstances that keep us stuck. Part of the pain of anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges is how they disconnect us from ourselves and others, leave us feeling trapped and losing hope. Coping day-to-day with these challenges, keeping our head above water, can feel like the best we can do. But human beings, I have learned - in my own life and in the lives of my clients - are beautifully resilient, able to move from coping to healing, and from healing to genuine flourishing. If you're looking for counselling in Abbotsford, or online across BC, I'd be glad to walk that road with you.
Meet Mark Walters
Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) | MA in Marriage and Family Therapy
I wholeheartedly believe in human resilience. I believe that people have remarkable ways of surviving, even in the worst of circumstances. And I believe that there is a path beyond surviving toward growth and healing - albeit not an easy path.
I am, myself, ever moving forward on that road toward deeper healing and wholeness. As a Registered Clinical Counsellor, I am also a companion for the rough patches. I have experienced and witnessed that there is a reliable path to wholeness, a dependable map for the journey, and a destination where you are more fully yourself and more deeply connected.
Serving Abbotsford and the Fraser Valley
I offer in-person counselling at my office in Abbotsford, BC, and online counselling for individuals, couples, and families anywhere in British Columbia. If you're in Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Mission, or the surrounding Fraser Valley, I'd love to connect.
A Note on Faith and Counselling
If your faith is an important part of who you are, you don't have to set it aside to get good counselling. I'm a person of faith myself, and I'm happy to integrate Christian or spiritual elements into our work together — or not, entirely up to you. My practice is grounded in evidence-based therapy first, and I genuinely welcome people from all backgrounds and beliefs.
